Fitness month brings something different for Team Schriever

SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- May has traditionally been recognized as fitness month for the Air Force.

Seth Cannello, Schriever sports and fitness manager, recalls that the Air Force even garnered a national sponsor for the month just a few years ago. But for whatever reason, participation and recognition has waned at Schriever during the past few years.

Hoping to revive the idea locally, Cannello and the Schriever Fitness Center staff have planned events for May.

Mission Spotlight: “To honor with dignity”

AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy -- The silent remembrance of fellow wingmen and leadership was interrupted by the slow tap of in sync low quarters marching across the pavement of the flight line.

"I was sad and honored at the same time," said Staff Sgt. Shekita Williams, 31st Force Support Squadron Aviano Air Base honor guardsman.

Family Child Care

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. -- A child being born, to some new parents, is the happiest but also the scariest moment of their life. Questions about finances and proper parenting techniques are sure to be on any new parent's mind.

But something that might not be in the forefront of the new parents' mind is childcare. What are the options for babysitters, daycare, and what programs do the Air Force provides? The many options might be overwhelming.

Team Seymour honors sacrifices of military children

"Military children deal with a lot of pressures," said Jasmine Carroll, 4th Force Support Squadron youth program director. "Parents deploy, get different assignments and go overseas. Sometimes it is easy to overlook the sacrifices our youth make for their military sponsors."
